As adults, most of us tend to feel a little stressed. It has been found that about 40% of adults go through stressful situations. While stress always seems constant and increases every day, we all know that it is bad for our body. It can lead to anxiety, diabetes, heart problems, mental illness, asthma, as well as skin problems. It is important to identify the signs our bodies give us when we feel stressed. Once we acknowledge these signs, we can counteract the ill effects and lower our stress levels.
Some of the signs that we are nervous or not are:
- Mood changes
When you experience sudden changes in your mood, for example, you are happy for a few seconds, then suddenly get angry, this is a sign of stress. It can also lead to anxiety and you will be reluctant to talk to others openly.
If you tend to get suddenly angry or upset with people, it could be a sign of stress, provided you don’t have a history of persistent austerity. Also, you will feel less patience while dealing with other people and any small mistake on their part will make you fly off the handle. It’s like you’re always on edge. Maybe it’s time to ask for help.
- Eating problems
If you eat excessively or your appetite is lacking, you may have stress issues. Worrying too much about people and your future will lead to stress and eventually cause you to lose or gain a lot of weight.
- Hair loss
This is a symptom of prolonged stress. It is possible that due to stress and the release of stress hormones in our bodies, the health of our hair is disrupted. Prolonged stress can be easily detected if you suddenly enter the stage of persistent hair loss. Even worse, once your hair starts to fall out, you end up getting more stressed, thus amplifying the effects of stress.
- Sleep problems
A person should take appropriate steps to sleep well. Sleep is essential and any change in sleep patterns can greatly affect your body. A person should sleep about 6-8 hours a day. If you suffer from insomnia or if you sleep for a long time, then you must be experiencing stress.
- Body aches
Your body doesn’t want you to be under stress, so it shows plenty of indications to make you aware of any stress buildup. One of its classic signs is painful. If you feel like your muscles are in knots or your chest is a little sore, don’t take it lightly. It may be an indication of stress.
Try to change your lifestyle if you want to de-stress. Begin meditation or yoga. If nothing works, see a therapist. Stress is horrific for your body – make sure you control it and eliminate it in any way you can.
